Dr. Berfin Karatas Jacobs is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry. She earned her DDS and PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Istanbul University and Marmara University, followed by postdoctoral implant-prosthodontic training at The Ohio State University, Columbus Ohio. She subsequently completed an Implant Fellowship at the Royal London Hospital (UK), and later earned her U.S. dental degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.
Dr. Karatas Jacobs has extensive experience across both academic and private practice environments. In addition to her academic role, she maintains a clinical practice focused on implant surgery and complex reconstruction in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
Her research and educational contributions center on digital implant planning accuracy, alveolar ridge reconstruction, and development of AI-driven decision support systems to enhance treatment predictability and patient-specific risk assessment. Her work has been published in top tier journals, and she is actively engaged in collaborative research.
Dr. Karatas Jacobs is a Fellow of International team of Implantology (ITI) and the Founder of the Women in Implantology Study Club in Philadelphia, fostering mentorship, professional leadership. She holds leadership and advisory roles within the international implant community and is an active member of American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Delaware Valley Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, ITI, and Academy of Osseointegration.
